THE MUGWUMPS

The fragments are precious few. You look at hasty 8 X 10s snatched in a Manhattan recording studio. The faces softer. The eyes younger. Like seeing yourself posed with the rest of Ninth Grade Miss Nancy Jackson's graduating class.
Three years becomes a long time. The Mugwumps were there, were important, and dissolved. Cass and Denny wind up as Mamas and Papas. Jim moves up to Laurel Canyon above Hollywood, involving himself in a new group called The Lamp of Childhood. Zal becomes key to The Lovin' Spponful.
Behind, a legacy of nine songs. Hence, an album of nine songs, undilluted. Damn lucky to have those.
A Mugwump is a bird that sits on a fence with its Mug on one side and its Wump on the other. A Mugwump is also a long way to "Creeque Alley."
A Mugwump is four persons once in love and still loving.
